Every year in June, world famous opera stars perform the opera in the enchanting ambience of the Yıldiz Serail. Seventy years ago, Yıldız Serail housed this opera for the first time.

The palace was built by Sultan Selim III for his mother Mihrimah Sultan. Yıldız Serail represents the final era of the Turkish-Ottoman palatial architecture. The stage is set up in front of the serail and the opera is performed in German, its original language.
